The five star Oberoi is a sanctuary of Indian style & luxury in the buzzing metropolis of Mumbai. Any luxury hotel that can appeal to both a mother and teenage son is doing something right. The hotel is extraordinary in every way. Service is seamless. We stayed in a spacious Seaview suite complete with separate dining room, huge bathroom with large bath, plush king sized bed and incredible views. The Michelin star Indian restaurant is amazing and we had the 10 course degustation with matching Indian wines which was surprisingly delicious. The setting is relaxed but smart, with excellent service and multiple visits from the chef to our table to explains the dishes and the concept of the food. The hotel’s bar is one of Mumbai’s best due to the location overlooking the water with both indoor and outdoor seating options, live music as well as a beautiful Frangipani tree creating an oasis of calm. Cocktails are creative, tasty and delicious, and even the bar snack menu is high end and amazing. Breakfast is served in a huge restaurant off the towering black and white lobby, and couches, tables and Indian artefacts create a homely yet stately vibe. There is a broad breakfast menu with local, western and even Japanese and other Asian options. Everything from pancakes to Japanese salmon and Indian state spicy scrambled eggs were excellent. The doormen are brilliant and helped us with Ubers, taxis, directions and multiple recommendations throughout our stay.

This has been my second visit and this has been more memorable from the previous one. The Oberoi staff and hotel have exceeded expectations in every possible way. The staff has gone above and beyond is ensuring we had a fantastic stay. The hotel as such has an old world charm to it. Its not as busy as the Trident which is a blessing and the staff truly provide a personalised experience. Something that is missing in similar hotel chains of today. We booked a bay view suite but I think we were upgraded. Our room overlooked the gorgeous marine drive and the ocean a view one can never get enough of. Infact I highly recommend booking the ocean view rooms and suites they are well worth it. The entire staff from the door man to the management was extremely welcoming and efficient. We had a few hiccups on the first day but the turnaround was extraordinary. I can't think of any hotel chain doing this much. From customising bathrobes, to leaving little knick knacks in the room daily the housekeeping staff was phenomenal. The staff at the restaurant/lounge and the chefs would go out of their way in asking if they could do anything beyond the regular menu. Always eager to please and taking feedback seriously. The drivers were courteous and knowledgeable. The GM was personally involved and ensuing that our feedback was taken seriously and that we were well taken care of. I am truly impressed with the level of service provided and I can't recommend the hotel enough. An absolute must stay in Mumbai. Oberoi, Mumbai you have set the bar very high. Thank you once again.
